Physical Education Programming

Holistic Fitness: In this first week we will focus on introducing the several avenues of fitness that exist in America and throughout the world.
 
Herculean Athletics: This first week will be centered around getting preliminary assessments for the various athletic disciplines that we will focus on throughout the trimester. 
 
K-5: This week we will work on acclimating to the new PE format. We will also begin to explore and play in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms. 
Holistic Fitness: This week we will dive a little deeper into mindfulness, sport performance training, and all of the other forms of physical activity that we will be investigating throughout this class. 
 
Herculean Athletics: This week we will begin our technical exploration of the various track and field disciplines as well as how they have evolved over time. 
 
K-5: This week we will continue to work on acclimating to the new PE format. We will also continue to play in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Holistic Fitness: This week we will go deeper into the Shaolin practice of I Chin Ching. We will continue to learn about the mind's importance in performance for both sport and life. We will also continue to develop key biomotor abilities for sport performance and longevity. 
 
Herculean Athletics: This week we will have our first CVAlympics and test the progress we've made across the eight track disciplines that we are focusing on. 
 
K-5: This week we will continue to work on acclimating to the new PE format. We will also continue to play in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Holistic Fitness: This week we will delve into parkour and lifetime sports. We will also learn more about the mind's importance in performance for both sport and life and continue to develop key biomotor abilities for sport performance and longevity. 
 
Herculean Athletics: After having our first CVAlympics last week, we will work to continue progressing in the eight track disciplines so we can improve for the next CVAlympics in a couple of weeks.
 
K-5: This week we will continue to work on acclimating to the new PE format. We will also continue to play in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Holistic Fitness: This week we will look at med ball circuits and some more lifetime sports. We will also learn more about the mind's importance in performance for both sport and life and continue to develop key biomotor abilities for sport performance and longevity. 
 
Herculean Athletics: This week we will work to continue progressing in the eight track disciplines so we can improve for the next CVAlympics in a couple of weeks.
 
K-5: This week we will do some foundational parkour movements and continue to play in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Holistic Fitness: This week we will play ultimate frisbee and go through a circuit training workout. We will also learn more about the mind's importance in performance for both sport and life and continue to develop key biomotor abilities for sport performance and longevity. 
 
Herculean Athletics: This week we will have our second CVAlympics and see what progress we've made in the eight track disciplines that we are working on.
 
K-5: This week we will do some more foundational parkour movements and continue to play in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Holistic Fitness: This week we will play soccer and go through a parkour obstacle course. We will also learn more about the mind's importance in performance for both sport and life and continue to develop key biomotor abilities for sport performance and longevity. 
 
Herculean Athletics: This week we will take a respite from our track and field training after a successful 2nd CVAlympics, and play some other sports to mix things up. 
 
K-5: This week the older kids will do a parkour obstacle race and the younger kids will continue to play in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Holistic Fitness: This week we will continue to learn more about the mind's importance in performance for both sport and life and continue to develop key biomotor abilities for sport performance and longevity. 
 
Herculean Athletics: This week we will dive back into training for the various track disciplines with a particular emphasis on the discus throw and sprints. 
 
K-5: This week we will focus on the development of throwing and catching skills while continuing to play in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Holistic Fitness: This week we will retest the speed, agility, and power assessments that we completed in the first week of school and see how we are progressing. We will also continue to learn more about the mind's importance in performance for both sport and life and continue to develop key biomotor abilities for sport performance and longevity. 
 
Herculean Athletics: This week we will complete our final week of practice and fine tune the various track disciplines before we conduct the third CVAlympics the following week. 
 
K-5: This week we will place emphasis on the development of throwing and catching skills while continuing to play in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Holistic Fitness: This week we will bowl and learn how to score a game. Additionally, we will begin a unit on some of the common health risks that adolescents face. We will also continue to learn more about the mind's importance in performance for both sport and life and continue to develop key biomotor abilities for sport performance and longevity. 
 
Herculean Athletics: This week we will conduct the third CVAlympics and look to continue piling up personal records. 
 
K-5: This week we will play some Halloween-themed games and continue to place emphasis on the development of throwing and catching skills. 
Holistic Fitness: This week we will continue to learn how to score a game of bowling, in addition to covering some of the health risks that adolescents face. 
 
Herculean Athletics: This week we will take a break from training the track and field disciplines after a successful third CVAlympics and play some traditional and Halloween-themed games.
 
K-5: This week we will continue to play some Halloween-themed games while placing emphasis on the development of throwing and catching skills. 
Holistic Fitness/ Herculean Athletics: This week the 18 students between the two electives will be placed into teams and will compete in daily fitness challenges. Whichever team has the most wins at the end of the week will win a prize to be announced at the end of the week. Additionally, they will have an assignment about a common health risk that all teenagers face. 
 
K-5: This week, a PE activity will be found in each homeroom teacher's google classroom.
 
 
 
Holistic Fitness: This week we will conclude the elective by finishing up a lesson on vaping and playing some lifetime sports. 
 
Herculean Athletics: This week we will complete our final CVAlympics as the elective draws to a close. 
 
K-5: This week we will do a fun STEAM lesson involving bar graphs and heart beats for the older kiddos. The younger kiddos will play assorted games based around responding to a signal. 
Creative Writing: In this first week of class we will dive in to learning about the creative process and learn some of the fundamentals for writing compelling stories before breaking for Thanksgiving. 
 
PE: In this first week of class we will be taking advantage of the abnormally high, November temperatures and playing team sports outside all week. 
 
K-5: This week we will  continue to play in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Creative Writing: This week we will complete, workshop, and revise our first piece of flash fiction.
 
PE: This week we will play some classic sports with a fun twist such as wiffleball with a golf club. 
 
K-5: This week the younger kiddos will work on body awareness and dynamic stability. The older kiddos will play the PE version of Among Us and continue to play in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Creative Writing: This week we will begin a deep-dive into the creative writing process: generating ideas/ finding inspiration, story development, story structure, and revision.
 
PE: This week we will continue to play some classic sports with a fun twist such as wiffleball with a golf club. 
 
K-5: This week the younger kiddos will work on body awareness and dynamic stability. The older kiddos will reassess the fitness tests that we conducted in September. 
Creative Writing: This week we will continue our deep-dive into the creative writing process and look at the mechanics of prose and dialogue. We will also delve into the mindset behind creating a first draft and the revising that follows. 
 
PE: This week we will play some traditional games and learn how they develop the six-skill related components of fitness. 
 
K-5: This week the younger kiddos will play some holiday-themed games. The older kiddos will finish up the reassessment of the fitness tests that we conducted in September. 
Creative Writing: This week students will workshop and edit their second "big" story that will be written in first-person.
 
PE: Last week we held mini debates over which of the skill-related components of fitness (speed, coordination, reaction time, agility, power, and balance) were most important to certain activities. This week, each day will be devoted to teaching students how to improve in one or two of the six skill-related components of fitness.
 
K-5: This week students will get practice in handling manipulatives through various kicking, throwing, and dribbling games. 
Creative Writing: This week students will take a classic bedtime story and give it their own unique twist!
 
PE: This week students will play some classic team sports with equipment from other sports.
 
K-5: This week students will play Among Us: PE Edition.
Creative Writing: This week students will begin to make the transition from prose style writing to screenplay writing in preparation for our final project that will conclude our class.
 
PE: This week students will play some unusual games such as Quidditch, War Zone, and Combine challenge!
 
K-5: This week the older kids will do some barricade-infused, perception-reaction agility games and the younger kids will continue to play games in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Creative Writing: This week students will continue to become familiar with telling stories through the art form of screenwriting.
 
PE: This week students will learn about the five health related components of fitness and relate their importance to being successful in the activities they will do this week.
 
K-5: This week the older kids will continue doing barricade-infused, perception-reaction agility games and the younger kids will continue to play games in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Creative Writing: This week students will embark on our final project for this semester in which they write a 10 page script.
 
PE: This week students will learn about  how to improve the five health-related components of fitness as each day will be devoted to one or two fitness components. 
 
K-5: This week the older kids will play team sports (football and futbol) with the goal of managing emotions and controlling their reactions to things that don't go their way. The younger kids will continue to play games in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Creative Writing: This week students will "pitch" their story ideas to me and then begin to write the script for their final project. 
 
Middle School PE: This week students will play an assortment of games and activities aimed at challenging their object manipulation abilities such as Spikeball, Hoola Hut, and the Backyard Trash game. 
 
K-5: This week the older kids will play music-infused movement games that will challenge their ability to respond and react to auditory signals. The younger kids will continue to play games in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Creative Writing: This week, students will complete their script and we will read everyone's script in class.
 
Middle School PE: This week, students will play an assortment of games aimed at movement competency such as, NFL Combine Drills, Pickle, as well as some music-infused activities. 
 
K-5: This week, the older kids will continue to play music-infused movement games that will challenge their ability to respond and react to auditory signals. The younger kids will continue to play games in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Creative Writing: This week, we will hold a CVA Oscar Ceremony to recognize some of the best characters, dialogue, action, and stories from the final scripts that students submitted.
 
Middle School PE: This week, we will wrap up the course with some fun youtube challenges and scooter board games.
 
Sports Performance: In the first couple days of the course, students will learn about how they will be documenting their progress over the course of the class.
 
Team Sports: In the first couple days of the course, students will get an overview of the class and then dive right in to invasion and net team sports. 
 
K-5: This week, the older kids will play games centered around basketball manipulation. The younger kids will continue to play games in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Sports Performance: This week we will have our first round of testing to acquire baseline numbers for a wide array of bio-motor abilities (speed, explosiveness, agility, power, and throwing). 
 
Team Sports: This week we will begin learning about the various kinds of team sports with a particular focus on striking (kickball, wiffleball, etc.) and net (basketball, volleyball, etc.) sports.
 
K-5: This week, the older kids will also be retesting their speed, agility, throwing, and power. The younger kids will continue to play games in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Sports Performance: This week we will begin to train the various biomotor abilities we tested last week and learn to analyze them. 
 
Team Sports: This week we will look at American football and complete our first week-long deep-dive into a team sport.
 
K-5: This week, the older kids will finish retesting their speed, agility, throwing, and power. The younger kids will continue to play games in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Sports Performance: This week we will reassess the various bio-motor abilities after training them the past few weeks. 
 
Team Sports: This week we will look at some more net sports (hockey, volleyball) as well as quidditch and wall ball. 
 
K-5: This week, the older kids will partake in some obstacle courses. The younger kids will continue to play games in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Sports Performance: This week we will finish analyzing the students' technique from last week's testing. We will also begin the next cycle of training to amplify their strengths and improve their weaknesses. 
 
Team Sports: This week we will take a deep dive and explore the sport(s) of baseball/ wiffleball. 
 
K-5: This week, the older kids will partake in some unconventional sports like quidditch, wall ball, and bubble catching. The younger kids will continue to play games in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
Sports Performance: This week we will continue on with the next cycle of training to amplify their strengths and improve their weaknesses to prepare for the next testing gauntlet in a few weeks.
 
Team Sports: This week we will spend time learning about and playing the games of badminton, basketball, and hula hut among others.
 
K-5: This week, the older kids will partake in some field day games like three-legged races and alien tag. The younger kids will continue to play games in all the planes of motion at various intensities and rhythms.
