Elementary Academics
CKLA
The curricular model is driven by Core Knowledge and infused with Character and leadership development which is a component of the Core Knowledge pedagogy. Core Knowledge Language Arts® (CKLA) is a comprehensive program (Preschool–Grade 5) for teaching reading, writing, listening, and speaking while also building students' vocabulary and knowledge across essential domains in literature, world and American history, and the sciences. The Core Knowledge Competencies are an in-depth review and assessment of the content that prepares early childhood and school-age professionals to become expert teachers and professionals. Human cognition is founded, in part, on four systems for representing objects, actions, number, and space. There are six levels of cognitive learning according to the revised version of Bloom's Taxonomy. Each level is conceptually different. The six levels are remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating.
CKLA Science
The Core Knowledge Science focus offers early exposure to many core ideas supporting a student’s learning progression toward an ever more complex understanding of science. CKLA lays a foundation of knowledge and literacy about a topic before students are expected to investigate phenomena through the lens of scientific practices and crosscutting concepts. It covers many of the same topics as CKSci, like light, sound, habitats, and astronomy, specifically for the purpose of building background knowledge and literacy with informational texts.
CKLA Social Studies
This is a comprehensive program in world and American history and geography, integrating topics in civics and the arts. Core Knowledge History and Geography helps students build knowledge of the diverse civilizations, cultures, and concepts specified in the Core Knowledge Sequence.
Eureka Math
